6 am to 6 am the next day
24h Europe - The next Generation
Europe, real time, for 24 hours
A day to feel Europe’s pulse and connect with its 18- to 30-year-olds. These 60 young people from a variety of backgrounds in 26 European countries go about their daily lives, and talk about their dreams, fears, worries and wishes. This one-of-a-kind record of today’s youth and manifesto for the future will run for a full 24 hours, from 6 am to 6 am the next day.
This day-long programme will be a deep dive into their universe in Sofia, Toulouse, Barcelona, Almería, Belgrade, Zurich, Lesbos, Helsinki, Magnitogorsk, Berlin, Namur, Tallinn, Sarajevo, Kautokeino, Warsaw or Iceland’s fjords. Some of them have opted out of the mainstream, others embraced religion; some are open to the world, others nationalistic and attached to their homeland; some are privileged, others underprivileged. They are outcasts, farmers, fishers, IT developers, female rickshaw drivers, kick-boxers, doctors, teachers, students, apprentices, nurses, DJs, artists, animal photographers, businesswomen and jobseekers. Some are in minorities, some on the front line, some political activists. They speak different languages, live in secluded villages or large metropolises, and some are fighting for women’s rights. Most were born in Europe, a few fled to Europe.
